Last Friday was a lucky day that I bid successfully a camera of Hassel and its lens kit Carl Zeiss C 80mm F2.8 with a very reasonable price on www.auction.co.kr, in spite of the fact that I didn't want to join the medium format camera field.

Seoul Photo 2011 (Part 1)

A secondhand market in Dongmyo, Seoul

Dongmyo (which literally means "Eastern Shrine") is a shrine in metropolitan Seoul built in honour of the 3rd century Chinese military commander, Guan Yu. But in this thread, I have just concerned about a secondhand market in Dongmyo. In Seoul, we can get there by subway:

All these photo were taken with 2 combos: Canon 5D + adapter c/y-EOS + Contax T* 85mm F1.4 or Leica M4 + Konica M-Hexanon 50mm F2 + Fuji Superia 200. For the Canon 5D, it's a big camera then I had to use long focal length as 85mm to capture the scene in this secondhand market where nobody wants to have their faces in any picture.

I bought Canon LTM 50mm F1.4 with a reasonable price right after reading this information from http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/lenses/fastlensreview.shtml:

And using Canon LTM 50mm F1.4 for portrait photo (this photo was shot at F2 and almost directed to the sun). This photo shows that this Canon LTM 50mm is nearly the same Canon lens with FD or FL mount!

Come to Achasan mountain for capturing picture of sunrise on the early morning of Jan 1st, 2011. This was a crazy idea that I did in the first year day, after hearing some idea from Korean people for the first day of the year.
Achasan mountain is near Gwangaru station in Line 5 of Seoul Metro System. I came there about 7:30 and tried to come to the top of mountain but I was failed due to cold weather. I came back Gwangnaru station before my partner became ice. I hope that I will come to the top of mountain next year! These pictures were shot with Canon 5D + EF 35mm F1.4L.

The M4, introduced in 1967, is the direct successor of the M3 and M2, featuring framelines for 35mm, 50mm, 90mm and 135mm lenses in a 0.72 magnification viewfinder. It has the frame counter of the M3, with automatic reset after reloading. The first M4 appeared in 1967 at serial no. 1175001. It went out of production in 1975 at serial no. 1443170. Most M4’s were made in the silver chrome finish and according to the Hove Leica Pocket Book, the entire 47,000 chrome cameras produced were manufactured in Wetzlar during the four year period between 1967-1970 except for 100 cameras made (likely assembled) in Canada. The M4 was also made in both the black lacquer and black chrome finishes. Approximately 4900 black lacquered M4’s were produced in Wetzlar between 1968 and 1971...
Three ergonomic modifications were introduced in the M4:

A different, angled film advance lever, as well as slightly different rewind, self-timer and frame selection levers
A crank for rewinding the film, that replaced the telescopic knob of the M3
A faster loading system that does not need a removable spool

Insadong was originally two towns whose names ended in the syllables "In" and "Sa". They were divided by a stream which ran along Insadong's current main street. Insadong began 500 years ago as an area of residence for government officials. Today, the main street in Insadong is Insadong-gil, which is connected to a multitude of alleys that lead deeper into the district. At one time it was the largest market for antiques, artworks, traditional cafes, restaurants.

Canon FD 15mm F2.8 fisheye on 5D!

Canon FD 15mm F2.8 known as the full-frame fisheye due to its ability to fill up the 24x36mm format has a 180° angle of view only on the diagonal of the 35mm frame's image area of 24mm x 36mm. The 15mm full-frame fisheye also focuses from 0.2 meter (8 in.) to infinity.
This lens is used on film camera but I tried to used it on Canon DSLR 5D with an FD-EOS adapter. In spite of the adapter made from Japan but it's not so good because there is a glass on it. All photo that have been taken by using FD 15mm with this adapter on Canon 5D are low on sharp and contrast. What's a pity!
This original FD 15mm lens maybe is very good on Canon AE-1!!!

In 2010 Lotus Lantern Festival, I had a chance join to the latern parade that happened in Jongno Street from Dongdaemun to Jogye Temple. "The lantern festival keeps alive the tradition of the “Yeon Deung Hoe” of the Goryeo Dynasty and the “Gwandeung Nori” of the Joseon Dynasty. The original ceremony was seen as helping to create a society filled with wisdom and mercy and to fulfill individuals' wishes by lighting up the darkness of the people's hearts through a folk festival. Leica Vario-Elmar R 28-70mm F3.5-4.5 on Canon 5D!

Luckily, I bought this lens with a very reasonable price from an old guy in Korea who uses Leica R6. He want to change this lens into Leica Summicron 50mm F2. Actually, I did not want to buy any MF (manual focus) lens anymore but I changed my idea with this lens.

This Leica R 28-70mm made in Japan for Leica camera GMBH with serial number 3626316, E60 CAM-3 (s/n: 3826650 will be ROM version - from ebay). I connect the lens into my Canon 5D through an adapter LeicaR-EOS made in Korea. It was very painful for searching the adapter due to narrow information about compatibility between Leica R lens and Canon 5D in http://www.pebbleplace.com/Personal/Leica_db.html. There is question mark on Leica R 28-70mm produced in 1990-1997!

These photos have been shot right after I have just bought the adapter by using Canon 5D + Korea adapter + Leica R 28-70mm:

Sakura have 3 colors which are white, pink and red. Existence of a cherry flowers or sakura usually last from 7 to 15 days, average about 1 week With the Japanese, Sakura symbolizes beauty, fragility and innocence, a kind of flower "escape hatch escape disabled" should be the favorite samurai, as it represents the "death road" of the martial artist (living and die like sakura)

Bongeunsa Temple and Coex Mall

Bongeunsa is a Buddhist temple in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea nearby Samseong station of Seoul subway system (http://www.bongeun.org/ and direction guide map from Samseong station to temple http://www.bongeunsa.org/info/info_7.asp). It was first founded in 794 during the reign of King Wonseong by the monk Yeon-hoe, then the highest ranking monk of Silla, and originally named Kyongseoungsa. It is located on the slope of Sudo Mountain in Samseong-dong, in front of the COEX Mall

MTF of lens!

The word sharpness is vague and can mean different things at different times to different people! Then, MTF means The Modulation Transfer Function which is the terminology that lens designers use, and which you need to come to terms with if you really want to understand how to describe the complex interaction between resolution and contrast.
For the optical designer contrast and resolution are in conflict. Increase one and you reduce the other. Various lens makers have differing philosophies in the regard. Historically, for example, Zeiss was reputed to design their lenses for maximum resolution, while Leica apparently tended to favour maximum contrast. It is design decisions like these that account in part for the differing "looks" of different lens brands.

MTF CHART DEFINITION

Look at Figure above. The vertical axis shows numbers from 0 to 1, which is really shorthand for 0 to 100%. The horizontal axis is in millimeters and shows the distance from the center of the image toward the edges. In other words, 0 on the horizontal axis is the center of the lens and 20 is 20mm out from the center. Since a 35mm frame is nominally 36mm across this point is therefore at the edge of the frame.

The thick lines are measurements taken at 10 LP/mm (low spatial frequency, or low resolution) and the thin lines are at 30 LP/mm, at higher frequency / higher resolution.

The black lines are measurements taken with the lens wide open, and the blue lines are with the lens at f/8.
The solid lines are meridonial while the dotted lines represent sagittal measurements.

Quote from Canon's explanation of what meridonial and sagital mean: Fine repeating line sets are created parallel to a diagonal line running from corner to corner of the 35mm frame, directly through the exact center of the image area. These are called sagital lines, sometimes designated “S” on Canon’s MTF charts. At a 90° angle to these, additional sets of repeating lines are drawn, called Meridonial (or “M”) line sets

HOW TO READ AN MTF CHART
As we look at the chart (of Canon 50mm f1.4) keep in mind that the higher up the chart a line is, the higher the contrast, and that 0 to 20 across the bottom scale represents from the center of the lens to the edge. Ignore the dotted vs. dashed lines for the moment.

Here are some rules of thumb for reading a chart...

the higher up the chart the 10 LP/mm line is (the thick lines), the higher the contrast reproduction capability of the lens will be.
the higher up the chart the 30 LP/mm line is (the thin lines), the higher the resolving power and thus subjective sharpness of the lens will be.
keep in mind that the black lines show the lens wide open while the blue lines show the lens stopped down to f/8, so the closer these sets of lines are to each other the better the performance of the lens when used wide open. The very best lenses will have the black and the blue lines close together.
generally speaking a lens whose thick lines (10 LP/mm) are above .8 on the chart should be regarded as having excellent image quality. Above .6 is regarded as "satisfactory". Below .6 is, well, below.

One of the areas of image quality that MTF can help determine is bokeh. This is a Japanese word used to describe the manner in which a lens reproduces the out of focus areas of an image. Some lenses are harsh in this regard, while others produce a much more pleasing out of focus image. This is where the meridonial and sagital lines come in, and as you'll recall are represented by the dotted and dashed lines. The closer these lines are to each other the more pleasing the bokeh of the lens.

The meridonial and sagital lines are also used used to evaluate astigmatism and field curvature — subjects which are beyond the scope of this brief essay.

Finally, be aware that an MTF chart doesn't tell us everything that there is to know about a lens. Important variables such as vignetting, linear distortions of various sorts, and resistance to flare are among the things not measured. An MTF chart isn't gospel, but it does help us to understand how a lens performs in terms of certain important characteristics.

This picture was taken in the campus of Sejong University by Contax Planar T* 85mm f/1.4 with Hansa adapter in Canon 5D. This photo was shot at f/2 and focused in the center of Diospyros Kaki tree. I used the Kenko CPL filter for capturing the sky in the end of autumn.

This photo also was taken by Contax 85mm/1.4 at f/2. This is the root of Diospyros Kaki tree (same tree of above photo) in the side of small route into my studied office of Sejong University.

The photo was shot in Children Grand Park by Contax 85mm/1.4 at f/2. Fortunately, there is one nice tree with some left leaves in the cold weather ^^. In that time, almost leaves felt down and dried!

These picture have been taken with a manual lens, the Contax Planar T* 85mm f/1.4, stopped down to f/2, f/2.8 and f/1.4 for picture No1, No2 and No3 respectively to have enough depth of field. Unfortunately, the picture of number 3 is nearly out of focus but me and model like that shot ^^! The scenes are in the Children Grand Park at the end of October.

One of a crazy idea of mine is that I want to have a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Relex) camera to come to the photos world at the of 2008 year (some day before Christmas). I did choose Canon 50D for my first DSLR camera. Canon 50D is not a full-frame camera. It has the 1.6 of crop factor. I also took the cheap zoom lens Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6.
These are the first pictures that I took with Canon EF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.6. In this time, I didn't know how to control the aperture of the lense :(

Alessandro Del Piero - Pinturicchio!

Mùa đông năm 1974, ở Conigliano (Treviso) - một thị trấn nhỏ nằm bền dãy Alpes thơ mộng giáp biên giới nước Áo, tuyết rơi nhiều phủ trắng mọi lối đi, thời tiết trở nên khắc nghiệt hơn ở nơi vốn rất lạnh giá. Duy có 2 người dường như không để ý đến điều đó là Gino và Bruna bởi ông bà vừa có thêm được cậu con trai thứ 2 mà theo như lời bà kể lại: "Nó đẹp trai và có nụ cười rất hiền. Ngay từ khi sinh ra tôi đã thấy trong mắt nó ánh lên một ngọn lửa của sự đam mê và lòng quyết tâm...". Chắc hẳn bà cũng không nghĩ rằng sau này các Bianconeri phải cảm ơn bà và cậu con trai với mái tóc xoăn và nụ cười đẹp như những bức tượng thần Hi Lạp ấy bởi những gì cậu sẽ mang đến cho Juventus và Calcio. Đó là ngày 9/11/1974 và cậu bé được đặt tên là Alessandro Del Piero...

Cậu bé rụt rè trở thành Pinturicchio

Del Piero lớn lên trong căn nhà bên dãy Alpes ấy cùng ba, mẹ, anh trai Stefano, và thường chơi bóng ở vườn sau nhà cùng hai người bạn Nelso và Pierpaolo. Cả ba đều mơ ước trở thành cầu thủ bóng đá, nhưng chỉ có Del Piero mới thực hiện được giấc mơ đó. Cậu bé rụt rè ấy đã bắt đầu ở vị trí thủ môn. Mẹ anh nghĩ anh sẽ khỏe hơn nếu làm thủ môn, vì sẽ không bị ra mồ hôi và sẽ ít bị ốm. Nhưng một ngày, Stefano nói với mẹ: “Mẹ không thấy là Alex sẽ rất giỏi nếu ở vị trí tấn công sao?”... Đó cũng là lúc Alex nhìn thấy Paolo Rossi toả sáng trong màu áo thiên thanh vô địch World cup 1982, hình ảnh ấy đã in sâu vào tâm trí của cậu. San Vendemiano là đội đầu tiên Alex đã chơi. Khi 13 tuổi, cậu gia nhập Padova - nơi tài năng bước đầu được khẳng định. Del Piero ở đó 2 mùa bóng và Juventus đã nhanh chóng ký một hợp đồng với chàng trai trẻ khi anh mới 15 tuổi rồi cho Padova mượn lại. Để rồi 2 năm sau "Bà đầm già" chính thức giang rộng đôi tay đón đứa con của mình trở về... Ở Padova, Del Piero đã ghi được 1 bàn trong 14 trận ở giải Serie B. Năm 1993 ấy, Del Piero cũng nhận được lời mời từ Milan. Piero Aggradi, giám đốc thể thao của Padova, người “phát hiện” ra Alex, đã quyết định để mọi thứ diễn ra theo ý muốn của anh. Và như một món quà thiên sứ dành cho các tifosi của Vecchia Signora, Del Piero chọn Juventus của thần tượng Paolo Rossi, khi ấy anh 18 tuổi.

Ở câu lạc bộ mới, ngay từ những ngày đầu, anh đã cùng giành giải Viareggio. Nhưng anh cũng gặp rất nhiều khó khăn vì bị chấn thương từ mùa giải trước. Song khi đã bình phục, Alex lại trở lại đội hình chính. Trận đấu đầu tiên trong giải Serie A của Del Piero là trận gặp Foggia, hoà 1-1. Trong trận gặp Reggiana, ngày 19/9/93, anh ghi được bàn đầu tiên trong giải Serie A, rạng rỡ hân hoan chia vui cùng "gã đầu bạc" Ravanelli. Trên khán đài sân Delle Alpi, huyền thoại Boniperti mỉm cười. Chính ông, trong vai trò tuyển trạch viên, đã đưa Del Piero về Juventus. Nhưng có lẽ, lúc ấy ông cũng khó tưởng tượng ra rằng một ngày kia chàng trai ấy sẽ xô đổ kỉ lục ghi nhiều bàn thắng nhất cho Juventus của ông. Bởi tất cả mới chỉ là bắt đầu của những điều kì diệu... Delle Alpi chiều 4/12/94, những tifosi còn nhớ như in giây phút ấy, Juventus đối mặt với kình địch Fiorentina của Batistuta. Khi tỉ số đang là 2-2 và thời gian dần trôi về những phút cuối, Del Piero đã tung một cú vuốt bóng bằng má ngoài chân phải đưa bóng vào góc cao khung thành Viola sau đường chuyển bổng, sâu của đồng đội từ giữa sân. 3-2 cho Juventus! Chiến thắng ấy đưa Bà đầm già thẳng tiến đến Scudetto lần thứ 23 sau 9 năm đằng đẵng chờ đợi. Đó cũng là chiến thắng dành cho Alex. Pha ghi bàn quyết định ấy, sau này được bình chọn là một trong những bàn thắng đẹp nhất trong lịch sử Serie A, đã khiến cho các tifosi bắt đầu gọi anh là Pinturicchio. Khi Alex gia nhập Juve, R. Baggio đã là vua ở Turin. Biệt danh của Baggio lúc đó là Tintoretto - theo tên của một trong những hoạ sỹ nổi tiếng nhất của Italia. Chủ tịch Agnelli đã nói rằng Alex xứng đáng với một biệt danh tương tự. Và Alex được ông gọi là Pinturicchio - theo tên của một hoạ sỹ có phong cách độc đáo và sáng tạo thời kỳ đầu Italia phục hưng. Rõ ràng Agnelli đã đúng bởi những bàn thắng của Alex có thể được so sánh như những nét vẽ tài hoa của người hoạ sỹ ấy. Điểm lại các bàn thắng của Del Piero cho Juve, có thể thấy không dưới 5 bàn anh ghi từ các pha đánh gót (thật ấn tượng!). Một trong số ấy được người ta nhớ mãi, trong cuộc đối đầu với đội bóng vùng Ruhr Brussia Dortmund tại chung kết Champions League mùa bóng 96/97. Phút thứ 19 của hiệp 2, Del Piero ghi bàn từ một cú đánh gót rất tinh tế và nhạy cảm sau đường lật căng từ cánh trái của Alan Bocksic. Nhưng đó là một kỉ niệm buồn bởi Juve đã bị nhấn chìm bởi một tài năng trẻ khác của nước Đức - L. Ricken - chỉ mới 18 tuổi...

Những pha đi bóng kĩ thuật, những cú sút phạt với đường cong hiều ảo của Del Piero thực sự đã làm các đối thủ phải e rè. Anh được coi là một trong những cầu thủ đá phạt hàng rào hay nhất châu Âu.

Dễ hiểu tại sao khi trước trận chung kết Champions League mùa bóng 97/98 (trận chung kết thứ 3 liên tiếp cho Juve) giữa Juventus và Real Madrid, tất cả các tờ báo thể thao lớn ở châu Âu đều cảnh báo cả hai đội hạn chế những pha phạm lỗi trước vòng 16m50. Bởi đơn giản, Real Madrid có R. Carlos, người có thể dùng má ngoài chân trái đưa trái bóng đi theo những quỹ đạo không tưởng với tốc độ đáng sợ. Còn Juve không kém khi sở hữu những chân sút thượng thặng Z. Zidane, Del Piero. Thực tế, cả trận đấu đó, chỉ có duy nhất một cú đá phạt nguy hiểm trước vòng 16m50. Và bàn thắng duy nhất của trận đấu đó tiếc thay không phải là của Juventus khi Mijatovic ghi tên mình vào lịch sử bằng một cú xoạc bóng. Juventus đã thất bại dù trước đó họ đã vượt qua AS Monaco ở bán kết với tổng tỉ số 6-4 bằng phong độ chói sáng của Del Piero, Zidane. Cũng như một năm trước, họ đã bị Dortmund nhấn chìm dù đã vùi dập Ajax kiêu hùng của Luis van Gal với tỉ số không tưởng 6-2 sau hai lượt đấu! Sau khi Del Piero sút tung lưới AS Monaco từ một pha đá phạt ở trận bán kết lượt đi Champions League mùa bóng 97/98 (Juve thắng 4-1), một bình luận viên truyền hình đã thốt lên: "một bàn thắng tuyệt đẹp của Del Piero và trông anh cũng đẹp như một bức tượng thời phục hưng!". Phải rồi, chàng trai có mái tóc xoăn dài và nụ cười hiền khô sau mỗi bàn thắng ấy đã trở thành hình tượng được yêu quý nhất trong lòng các cổ động viên Juventus, đã đẩy R. Baggio đi vào dĩ vãng (ở Juve, người ta nói đến số 10 là nhớ tới Del Piero chứ không phải R. Baggio nữa). Không chỉ bởi vẻ bề ngoài cùng nụ cười hiền hậu mà còn bởi những bàn thắng mang nhiều cảm xúc. Cảm nhận được những vinh quang ấy, chính anh Del Piero chứ không phải ai khác thấy rõ nhất. Bởi đơn giản, bên cạnh đó là cả những đau đớn, đắng cay, chịu đựng mà anh phải trải qua với những chấn thương, những bước đi thăng trầm của cuộc đời cầu thủ, hay cả sự kì vọng và yêu thương quá mức của các tifosi trong cuộc hành trình kéo dài hơn 10 năm ấy...

Đợi chờ Godot

Từ khi khoác lên mình màu áo đen trắng, Del Piero đã có tất cả. Bắt đầu từ một cậu học trò tỉnh lẻ rụt rè trở thành một ngôi sao nhỏ rồi một biểu tượng ở Juventus, Del Piero đã cảm nhận được những hương vị ngọt ngào nhất của Champage trong lễ mừng Scudetto lần thứ 23 sau bao năm dài chờ đợi của các Bianconeri; đã cùng những Ravanelli, Vialli, Conte, Deschamps, Paolo Sousa,... nâng cao cup Champions League trong tiếng nhạc và pháo hoa nhiều màu. Nhưng anh cũng đã phải buồn bã làm bạn với chiếc nạng gỗ suốt mấy tháng ròng, đã cay đắng nhận lấy những lời đay nghiến của hàng triệu tifosi trên khắp nước Ý, đã tủi hờn lặng lẽ ngồi bên băng ghế dự bị lạnh giá ở Delle Alpi ngày càng trống vắng... Del Piero đã làm người ta quên đi hình bóng R. Baggio ở Delle Alpi bằng tài năng của mình khi cùng các đồng đội xuất sắc lập nên một giai đoạn huy hoàng của Juve với 6 Scudetto, Champions League và nhiều danh hiệu khác. Anh ra mắt trong màu áo thiên thanh khi mới 21 tuổi (trận gặp Estonia, 1995). Nhưng rồi thành công dường như xá lánh anh thay vào đó là những lời trỉ trích, những tranh cãi xung quanh. Tất cả bắt đầu từ một buổi chiều đáng nguyền rủa năm 1998. Một ngày trước sinh nhật lần thứ 24 của mình (8/11/98), ở Udine, Juve hoà Udinese 2-2 và Del Piero gặp phải một chấn thương đầu gối sau pha vào bóng ác ý của đối phương. Chấn thương ấy là một điều khủng khiếp bởi nó buộc anh vắng mặt 6 tháng và từ đó, những bản tin có nhắc đến Del Piero là những tin về chấn thương, về phong độ giảm sút. Những chuỗi ngày dài khổ sở của Del Piero bắt đầu bằng việc Juventus bị Manchester Utd đánh bại tại bán kết Champions League với tỉ số 3-2 ngay trên sân Delle Alpi (đó vẫn là một trong những thất bại lớn nhất của Juve), ở Serie A Juventus thi đấu thảm hại không được tham dự Champions League mùa bóng sau đó mà phải tham dự cup UEFA qua cánh cửa hậu là Intertoto cup. Trở lại ở mùa bóng 1999/2000, Del Piero không phải là chính mình nữa. Phong độ giảm sút và những chấn thương nhỏ khác khiến anh chỉ ghi được 9 bàn thắng ở Serie A với một kỉ lục tồi tệ: 8 trong số đó đến từ các quả đá phạt penalty (bàn cuối cùng vào lưới Parma từ một pha đánh đầu). Sau mỗi bàn thắng bằng penalty ấy, người ta vẫn thấy anh cười, nhưng nụ cười ấy lập tức tắt đi nhường chỗ cho vẻ mặt đăm chiêu và lo lắng, tâm lí nặng nề. Và điều gì đến đã đến, Scudetto đã bị đội quân triệu phú Lazio mang về Roma, sau khi Juve thất thủ 0-1 trước Perugia trong một chiều mưa tầm tã ở vòng đấu cuối cùng. Trong cả mùa bóng đó, trên tất cả các mặt trận, Del Piero chỉ ghi được 10 bàn thắng. Trên đấu trường châu Âu, Celta Vigo như xát muối vào lòng các Bianconeri khi nã vào lưới thủ thành Van der Sar 4 bàn trắng và loại họ ngay tại vòng tứ kết cup UEFA (Juventus thua 1-4 sau 2 lượt trận). Mùa bóng sau đó cũng tồi tệ không kém khi Juve bị loại ngay tại vòng bảng Champions League và Scudetto một lần nữa ở lại Roma (lần này đội vô địch là AS Roma)

Ở đội tuyển Italia,

Del Piero lúc nào cũng được kì vọng, nhưng đã qua hơn 70 trận cho đội tuyển ấy, vẫn chỉ là những thất vọng. Tại giải vô địch châu Âu năm 1996, anh chơi chỉ 45 phút trong suốt giải còn World Cup '98, anh không đạt được phong độ tốt nhất.

Năm 2000, nhiều người đổ lỗi cho anh khi Ý thất bại trước Pháp trong trận chung kết Euro vì đã bỏ lỡ 2 cơ hội ăn bàn. Ở đâu đó bên ngoài SVĐ và cả trên các đườc phố của Italia nữa, người ta thấy những đám lửa cháy mà "nguyên liệu" của nó là chiếc áo của cầu thủ mang áo số 10. Họ đổ lỗi cho thất bại này cứ như thể sai lầm là của riêng số 10 vậy (thực ra trong đội tuyển Italia, Del Piero thường mang áo số 7). Đứa con cưng của nước Ý đã bị đối xử như thế đó. World cup 2002 và Euro 2000 thực sự là những thảm hoạ bởi "ông già gàn dở" Trapattoni đã bám riết lấy sơ đồ 4-2-3-1 mà ông tưởng đã rất hoàn hảo với bộ ba Totti - Del Piero - Vieri (có lẽ bộ ba này chỉ thành công duy nhất một lần trong trận giao hữu thắng đội CHLB Đức 1-0) ấy đã hại ông bởi người Hàn và trọng tài, những người Scandinavi cùng những sai lầm cá nhân thô thiển (Totti). Ở cái xứ sở mà bóng đá còn hơn cả tình yêu Italia thì một thất bại cũng đồng nghĩa với cái chết... Người ta thống kê rằng không một cầu thủ nào bị chấn thương nhiều như Del Piero. Trong hơn 10 năm thi đấu, anh đã phải ngồi ngoài hơn... 500 ngày vì chấn thương! Nó lí giải tại sao phong độ của anh trở nên rất thất thường và ngày càng nhiều những nghi ngờ về khả năng của anh. Khi chứng kiến tất cả những điều ấy, chủ tịch đáng kính U. Agnelli đã gọi anh một cách trìu mến là Godot - tên nhân vật trong vở kịch Waitting for Godot của Susan Sontag - một người luôn được chờ đợi, nhưng không bao giờ đến như muốn nói đến phong độ của anh. Một niềm tin yêu của chủ tịch dành cho Alex và cũng là một lời nhắn nhủ để Alex tìm lại được chính mình. Và người ta chưa thấy một lần thực sự Godot đến như sự toả sáng trở lại của anh. Những mùa bóng sau, với sự xuất hiện của lần lượt D. Trezeguet, L. Thuram, G. Buffon, P. Nedved, z. Ibrahimovic,... gánh nặng của Del Piero ở Juventus được giảm xuống và Juventus trở lại quỹ đạo thành công cùng với các HLV Lippi và Capello. Juventus đã không quá phụ thuộc vào Del Piero nữa. Nhưng người ta lại tranh cãi về sự xuất hiện của anh thường xuyên trong đôi hình. Capello là một huấn luyện viên có cá tính mạnh mà ông không bao giờ bằng lòng với những cầu thủ ngôi sao. Ở Milan, ông đã bất đồng với Gullit, thẳng thừng từ chối sự có mặt của R. Mancini; ở Roma là Montella và ở Juve hiển nhiên là Del Piero. Bất chấp rằng trên khán đài mang tên huyền thoại Sicrea, những cổ động viên trung thành và cuồng nhiệt nhất của Juve vẫn ngồi, huýt sao, căng băng rôn đòi đưa Del Piero vào sân thi đấu, Capello vẫn không bận tâm. Thậm chí đến những trận đưa anh vào sân, ông cũng thay ra ngay giữa hiệp 2 bất chấp sự là ó. Chỉ có chiến thắng của Juve mới khiến Capello không bị các fan nguyền rủa. Và ông đã chiến thắng. Nhưng Del Piero cũng chiến thắng!

Đã đến lúc rồi niềm vui và kỉ lục

Del Piero yên lặng trước mọi sự nghi ngờ, trỉ trích về phong độ. Thay bằng việc tranh cãi hay phát biểu trên báo chí anh đến với những hoạt động từ thiện, hay đơn giản ở trong phòng ngồi nghe những khúc nhạc yêu thích, ngày ngày tập luyện chăm chỉ. Mùa bóng 2004/2005 chứng kiến một kỉ lục không lấy gì làm tự hào của Del Piero: anh bị thay ra tổng cộng 28 lần! Nhưng cũng từ những lần bị thay ra ấy, anh đã ghi từng bàn thắng quan trọng đưa Juve đến với Scudetto và bám đuổi kỉ lục ghi nhiều bàn nhất mọi thời đại cho Juventus của G. Boniperti (182 bàn) thuyết phục được cả HLV Lippi đưa anh tham gia đội tuyển Italia thường xuyên. Cuối mùa bóng ấy, anh đã ghi một bàn thắng quan trọng... ngoài sân cỏ: kết hôn với Sonia Amoruso. Họ đã bên nhau khoảng 5 năm. Sonia Amoruso luôn ở bên Del Piero những lúc khó khăn, như trận chung kết Euro 2000 và khi cha Alex qua đời. Và có lẽ chính vì Sonia chẳng biết chút gì về bóng đá lại khiến họ thêm hạnh phúc... Và giữa mùa bóng 2005/2006 anh ghi một bàn thắng quan trọng nữa: lần này là bàn thắng thực sự ở trong sân cỏ, bàn thắng thứ 2 anh ghi trong trận gặp Rapid Viena chính là bàn thắng xổ đổ kỉ lục của Boniperti, thật tuyệt vời. Anh đã trở thành huyền thoại của Juventus ngay từ khi còn đang thi đấu. Hôm nay, giữa sự yêu quý của các tifosi, sự nể trọng của đồng nghiệp (kể cả HLV Capello), Del Piero càng thêm hạnh phúc hơn nữa với thành tích tuyệt vời của mình. Người ta nghĩ Godot không bao giờ đến, nhưng có lẽ họ đã nhầm chăng, Godot đã đến từ lâu rồi đó thôi... Đã có lúc, trong những ngày tháng mệt mỏi nhất của mình, Del Piero đã yêu cầu BTC sân Delle Alpi trước mỗi trận đấu hãy mở một bản nhạc của Metallica - ban nhạc rock mà anh yêu thích - để có thêm tinh thần chiến đấu . Nhìn lại toàn bộ sự nghiệp của Del Piero, người ta cũng dễ liên tưởng đến một bản Thrash Metal của Metallica nghe lúc buồn vậy. Có lúc thăng hoa đẹp đẽ, có lúc đau khổ và đắng cay, đôi khi lúc thành công nhất, huy hoàng nhất cũng có thể biến thành cơn đau tàn phá. Cả sự nghiệp ấy không có có những bi kịch đi đến đỉnh điểm như Roberto Baggio nhưng lại chất chứa day dứt. Nhưng có lẽ giờ đây Del Piero không cần phải nhờ đến âm nhạc của Metallica để động viên, chia sẻ cùng mình nữa.
